Poggio ai Santi, May 2014

We have just returned from the first of our two weeks at Poggio ai Santi, Tuscany. Here are a few highlights:

The most beautiful scented gardens. Everywhere you walked, the sweet smell of honeysuckle and roses filled the air.

Having a small group was wonderful to get to know everyone, and just 3 bridge tables was perfect for the teaching.

Our lovely Italian waiter, Matteo, and his cheeky winks!

With our American guests all the way from California, we were introduced to the Strong No-Trump and 5-card majors, and in turn we taught them our silly english sayings.

Delicious salted cod with fresh cherry tomatoes.

Trip to Elba - well worth it for spectacular and unspoilt countryside.

Views of the Mediterranean from the bridge room - not that we weren't concentrating!

Lunch on the terrace with a view to die for.

Camelia, Iris and Juniper - the 4-legged residents of the house who kept popping into the bridge room to see what we were up to.

Guernsey humour......!

Homemade sorbets and ice creams with a delicious biscuit crunch - a perfect way to finish a meal.

All the wonderful staff who went out of their way to help us.

We, all three of us, greatly enjoyed the visit and are full of admiration for your superb organisation and for the friendly and relaxed way you always make us feel welcome and at ease.

I think you both do a wonderful job - I really enjoy the intimacy and friendliness.

I do have such a lovely time even though I don’t play bridge! Much enjoyed – and having terrible withdrawal symptoms. I really enjoyed our shopping trips too and of course our day on Elba, so beautiful – roll on Morocco!

What a beautiful location - so peaceful and wonderful sea views.

We loved the small group size - our bridge has really improved with such great tuition.

Zeb's instruction, Claudia's attention to every detail, the lovely people, the lovely location made this such a memorable trip that we immediately decided we want more - here we come Marrakech!
